Semarang – The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), successfully organized an Undip Global Classroom (UGC) activity for the Graph Theory course in the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program. The program featured an international guest lecturer, Dr. Ghazali Semil Ismail, from Universiti Teknologi MARA Johor Branch.
The activity was conducted in two sessions on April 27 and May 11, from 08:30 to 10:30 WIB, and was attended by approximately 50 participants, including students enrolled in the Graph Theory course, students from other study programs, and members of the public with an interest in graph theory and mathematics.
The Undip Global Classroom (UGC) is an international academic collaboration program organized by Universitas Diponegoro. Through this initiative, lecturers and experts from partner universities abroad are invited to participate in regular UNDIP classes, providing students with broader academic perspectives and strengthening the international atmosphere of the learning process.
In the first session, Dr. Ghazali delivered a lecture entitled “Commutative Rings Through Zero Divisor Graph: A Structural Approach.” In the second session, he presented “Commutative Rings Through Zero Divisor Graph: Computing Their Topological Indices.” Both topics represent contemporary research developments that establish connections between graph theory and abstract algebra.
The sessions were conducted in an engaging and interactive manner. Participants actively took part in discussions and explored various aspects of graph theory and its potential applications in mathematical research. The presence of an international academic provided students with valuable learning experiences while introducing them to global perspectives and current developments in the field.
Through this activity, the Department of Mathematics, FSM UNDIP, hopes to broaden students’ understanding of recent advances in mathematics, particularly in graph theory, and to encourage them to further develop their academic and research capabilities. The program also reflects UNDIP’s commitment to supporting the internationalization of higher education through collaboration with partner universities worldwide.
