UNDIP Global Classroom Welcomes Dr. Mohd Ali Khameini Ahmad from UTM for a Two-Part Guest Lecture on Vector Calculus

The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), successfully organized another Undip Global Classroom (UGC) program as part of its commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration and providing students with a global learning experience. The program featured Dr. Mohd Ali Khameini Ahmad, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), who delivered two online guest lectures for the Vector Calculus course on 7 May 2026 and 14 May 2026.

The sessions were moderated by Jovian Dian Pratama, S.Mat., M.Mat., Lecturer in Mathematics and Coordinator of the Vector Calculus course at the Department of Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro. The lectures attracted enthusiastic participation from undergraduate mathematics students eager to deepen their understanding of fundamental concepts in vector calculus through an international learning environment.

Lecture 1: Surface Integral

The first lecture, held on 7 May 2026, focused on Surface Integrals, one of the fundamental topics in multivariable calculus. During the session, Dr. Mohd Ali introduced the geometric interpretation of surface integrals, mathematical formulations, methods of parameterizing surfaces, and practical techniques for evaluating surface integrals. He also demonstrated how these concepts are applied in mathematics, physics, and engineering, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

Lecture 2: Green’s Theorem

The second lecture, conducted on 14 May 2026, explored Green’s Theorem, a cornerstone theorem in vector calculus that establishes the relationship between line integrals and double integrals over a plane region. Dr. Mohd Ali explained the mathematical intuition behind the theorem, its derivation, and various worked examples illustrating its applications in computing circulation and flux. The lecture also highlighted the significance of Green’s Theorem as a foundation for more advanced topics such as Stokes’ Theorem and the Gauss Divergence Theorem.

Through interactive discussions and problem-solving sessions, students gained a stronger conceptual understanding and enhanced their analytical skills in vector calculus.
