The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro, successfully organized the UNDIP Global Classroom (UGC) 2026, an international academic program aimed at strengthening global collaboration and enriching students’ learning experiences through lectures delivered by international scholars.
The program featured Prof. Dr. Cihat Abdioğlu from the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, Türkiye, as the guest lecturer. The sessions were moderated by Handika Lintang Saputra, M.Mat., a lecturer from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro.
The UGC program consisted of two online sessions. The first session was held on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, with the topic:
“Hyperbolas and Their Standard-Form Equations”.
During this session, Prof. Dr. Cihat Abdioğlu introduced the fundamental concepts of hyperbolas, including their geometric characteristics, principal elements, and standard-form equations. The lecture provided participants with a systematic understanding of how the orientation and properties of a hyperbola can be determined from its equation.
The second session was conducted on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, under the topic:
“General Equation of Hyperbola and Its Application”
This session expanded upon the concepts discussed in the first meeting. Participants learned how to transform the general equation of a hyperbola into its standard form and explored several applications of hyperbolas in mathematical and real-world contexts.
Both sessions were conducted online through Zoom Meeting at 1:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (Jakarta Time) exactly in the the Analytic Geometry Class schedule. The program provided an interactive academic environment in which participants could engage in discussions, ask questions, and gain insights directly from an international expert.
The implementation of the UNDIP Global Classroom reflects the Department of Mathematics’ commitment to internationalization and the development of globally oriented education. Through this program, students were given the opportunity to broaden their mathematical knowledge, experience an international learning atmosphere, and develop their academic communication skills.
The Department of Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro, expects that similar international academic programs will continue to be organized in the future. Such initiatives are important for strengthening collaboration between Universitas Diponegoro and international partner universities while supporting the university’s vision of becoming a globally recognized research institution.
